Call the Police - There`s a Pussy Riot Going on

Proving that music is more than entertainment, and expressing yourself through song is just as provoking as a regular demostration, Pussy riot, are a collective of 25. They have been staging perfomances in locations that have got them into trouble, even daring enough to try Red square. But as you`ll find later, their resolve to have the subjects of politics, the authoritarian state, the environment, and of womens rights out in the open in public spaces is strong.

If you need proof of that, members of the group were arrest on March 3rd for a performance in Cathedral of Christ the Saviour of the Russian Orthodox Church (catchy). In such a setting, the women sang for “Holy Mother, Blessed Virgin” to “chase Putin out.” Maria Alyokhina and Nadezhda Tolokon were taken in and charged with hooliganism..... and as of writing, still in custody. The orthodox Church, inflamed by the gig have branded them "sinners"

There`s something really good about seeing Punk in it`s true form in the 21st century. Punk was always meant to be challenging. To go one step further with a bit of help from your friends,pool your resources - then get up and DO SOMETHING, is the punk ethic. It isn`t and wasn`t about safety pins and spikey hair. Pussy riot do this, anonymously - the women arrested the other day have refused to say they are Pussy riot - and do it with music I like - it may not be your cup of tea, but this is punk in action.

This is serious stuff. Two members are on hunger strike, and there is a possibility of eight years in jail if convicted. I Salute you Pussy riot. When you get someone like to Putin start mentioning you, then you know you`re making waves. I just hope this shit gets resolved soon. Man, if they do get a custodial sentence then it`s the start of some very dark times indeed. FREE PUSSY RIOT!
