Concert / DEVO / Freedom of Choice Tour - Phoenix Centre 1980


Pioneers DEVO, who brought art to music and were one of the first to embrace the music video are featured (in full) in concert Petaluma, California in 1980.

It`s hard to quantify just how unique these guys were at the time. The sound of the synthesised music was pushing boundaries in itself - then along come Four looking like spacemen, who weren`t pretending to be spacemen. This is 1980. It`s still technically the 1970`s culturally, with disco still hitting the charts and people wearing the same clothes they bought in 1979. Brightly coloured DEVO with their sharp new wave sound caused enough kefuffle to hit the mainstream. Even embracing the video format as they did in the early 80`s wasn`t common. Thankfully they recorded this gig, it`s choreographed to to a tee. Mint.
