How can a EP full of fun, become a fucking task?
It took a bit of work to do, on paper it should have been fun, in fact it turned out to be a major headache, completely took over from everything else I`d been working on and revealed some flaws within my studio setup - and still ended up being rushed towards the end. But here is Vol.1 - what really should have been an album is now going to be a series EP`s - and what should have been a four-man team ended up being a a solo project, so the fact that it`s out is gives me (and the other bands involved)a lot of relief.
Post war glamour girls.Uncle Lee, is actually Liam Kane, from the Moody Gowns, and the mastering was done by Nathan Moseley, vocalist with the same band - watch out for a new album coming from them in the near future, they`ve put a lot of work into that project and I`m grateful that they had the time to work on this project.
My approach for these remixes was to make a "new" song - and not to simply jumble samples to a four-four beat and hope for the worst. So there`s been an major overhaul of British Racing Green "Dougs Money" & Buffalo Bones "Left before I arrived" (You should be all familiar with La Machine`s "Symptomatic by now).. Rock becomes mid- 80`s New wave, and a sharp, catchy indie single becomes an extended 12" full of funk.
British Racing GreenInterestingly all three no longer perform/publicise these songs so with the exception of Doug`s money" there is no original version I can direct you to, you know, so I could show just how FAROUT the remixes are.
There are more EP`s to come, so to all the bands and artists who thought their track had been forgotten about (In some cases I was given the multi-tracks by them nearly a year ago) Rest assured, THEY ARE STILL COMING OUT. they exist and they are all at at the the overdub/mixing stage. As I alluded to before I had a horrible problem with the sound card which was so fundamental, it rendered (excuse the pun) a years worth of audio, mostly useless.
You know, I had less problems with a four tack cassette back in the day!
